My first post, so hopefully I get things right with it.
Went for a holiday up to the Dingo Beach area recently and managed two afternoon/dusk trips out on Faust on the 4th and the 8th. First trip was with the family - did some trolling around the points near the dam wall but no luck.
Second trip went out on my own and scored two barra within an hour of each other. First one went 105cm and was caught at 0530pm and the second went 90cm and was caught at 630pm. I was wrapped and can vouche for comments made by other Ausfishers that impoundment barra fight just as well as their saltwater bretheren. The bigger barra cleared the water by about two body lengths on the first jump!!
Both were caught on deep diving halco scorpions trolling the points closest to the dam wall.
Mate thats a great looking barra, those impoundment barra can be hard to catch at times, a lot of people walk away without one , so for 2 arvo's i rekon u've done bloody well [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]
Great pic, i like the stormy weather in background.
Well done with that Barra on the troll now the next challenge get into them thar trees and try to extract one whilst casting and retrieving you think these big girls fight on the troll they really go oooorrrrrrrrfffff in the trees GOOD LUCK
Thanks for the welcome guys. If its any compensation - I spent three days at Awoonga the week before for 2 sub 40cm barra!!
Bomber, Was planning to hit the sticks but one of the boys at Prossie bait and tackle suggested trolling this time of year so many thanks must go to them. I'm going back to the Dingo Beach area in Sept school hols and the sticks will definitely be on the list of to do's. (currently in negotiations with her indoors to spend a few days at Prossy first so I can get my fishing fix - just so happens that would work out around the full moon too )
Cheno, can't wait, have started making ritual sacrafices to the weather gods already.
We were old fishing buddies in WA, mainly chasing barra together. I've been trying to convince him to get out on Awoonga - put a fire under him for me.
