    Big Bar

Its been a frustrating time down here at Brunswich Heads. We thought the bar was big yesterday as it took over an hour of waiting inside the breakers for the 'right' lull in the surf to get out. Well worth the wait but!
A mate and I were the only two boats out on an oily sea without a zephyr of wind until we returned at 12 midday on the top of the tide.
Couldnt get a 'livey' so dead slimies were used on the slow troll around the local reef.
There wasnt a period all morning where a bait lasted longer than ten minutes! It was just one of those days.
Only took about 20 baits and came home with no bait but 14 fish, cobia, yellowfin, 2 spots (7.8kilo & 8.6kilo) and the rest spanish mackerel. As expected the four clients were more than happy!
Unfortunatly, the accompaning photo is of the bar today. A touch bigger than yesterday and not worth the risk. Although one crazy guy just got out in a pretty small boat. I'm taking the camera back to see if I can get a shot of him coming back in!
    Cheers

Crap devo, show me a wave like that up here. I am drooling over the left hander, very hollow, very nice..., ooh wait, the right hander looks like a nice chunk of wall that could be hacked all day. Nahhh, the chunky, spitting out left hand barrel wins for sure, ..., oh..., er.., but that right looks like it is just asking to be smashed. TOP PHOTO! Wish I was the guy about to pull into the right, the lucky bugga! Drool drool drool drool drool drool drool drool drool drool drool drool

    Hey Mono,

At least they are clean waves dont make em much easier tho

Got any pics of the fish, they are good size spotties, is that the normal size for your area this time of year?

    Regards Glen
    Cheers Glen,

    Re: Big Bar

Yes the bloke got back in ok apparently.
Saving fish photos for next BNB Magazine.

Yes Webby, expect a call SOON!

It was still 'firing' today. Bar still big with only 2 boats going out. One of them was a commercial mate who caught 24 spaniards with rod and reel on dead slimies in 4 hours! Hope the bar has dropped a bit tomorrow as today I had to go to the Gold Coast to get a new leg!! Bugger
