    A spot for Burley

Decided to head out early on the Sunday morning..... well I thought it was early but as I pulled up at the Biggera Waters ramp I was 6th in line at 4.30 am, oh well live and learn. By the time we headed out the seaway for Palmie it was getting light and by the time we rolled into the carpark at Palmie I realised that we were not the only ones that had that idea this morning.... I guess on close to 100 boats not counting the surfskis with milkcrates on them to store the fish nor the guys trolling on a jetski....

Anyway the big day was in and the aim was for something with teeth....

I had a lucky phil slug on the TSS4 ready for casting and set the Penn up with a 3gang tied to the mono leader and with a full pillie.
Was probably 1/2 an hour and off goes the Penn with the rod bent right over, grabbed the rod but whatever it was threw the hook.... bugger... loaded up again and let it sit while I tossed the slug around, a last rod had a single hook with wire leader into another pillie.
Quiet as anything for a while and not seeing too much action around us and boils too far away to cast into we thought we'd move around, pulled the Penn in to realize that the gang hook had been bitten off without even a click of the ratchet...

As we moved further over the reef we spotted Cloud9 who proudly displayed his wifes Cobia, we anchored up again and added weights to the rigs as the current was coming up, that put us on the bottom and we pulled up a slimie and a Tailor.
A bit pressed for time it was time to head back to the Seaway at 9am but we tied on the Halco Lasers and a Halco skirt and headed north at around 8knots.
Passing the burley headland we finally got our target a big spotty, the ratchet had been left off the Penn and I didn't realise that we were on for some time..... by the time I got the poor fish to the boat I think I'd almost drowned him, poor bastard didn't put up much of a fight, 80cm 4kg Spotty for dinner, any suggestions for recipies?

Well my first spotty didn't get me the adrenalin kick I was after so I'll be back and hopefully realise I'm connected before I drown the bugger.

As a curiosity, Jamie referred to what I refer to as mermaid reef as the Casino reef, I thought E153.27 S28.02 was referred to as Mermaid?

Yeah, everyone has different names for the same location. Could be what Cloud 9 calls it ?
