Spotties were black on the eastern side of St Helena today.
Boiling everywhere.
If you get a weather window tomorrow it would be worth a look.

Interesting news Dave.
I note in my fishing diary that it was the 19th of Feb,last year, that they were thick as fleas this time last year, and that I went out and was blown away by acres of schools patrolling the central Bay.
Have been watching these pages with interest over the last month as I believe the Spotties have been feeding on small baitfish as evident in a few reports, which has made slugging in the bay a little difficult-to match the hatch.
Has the timing of the recent rain downpours got something to do with it?I think so....
Was there bait around today and of a larger size?
Seeing as the 19th this year is a Saturday, might try for the 18th........
Keep you posted
Zak
I was doing other things with a video camera so didn't fish but one boat landed one after another - I think over 20 but he was throwing most back.
There was only one boat there as far as I know.
There has been a lack of bait in the Bay over the past month - nowhere near what I usually see when running about out there.
Yesterday there was bait everywhere.
Let's hope they hang in there for the weekend for you all.

I'm in . got to stock up in lures.

We went for a spin yesterday, saw plenty of fish but the bait they were chasing of Tangalooma was tiny. Did not try for long as the water at the wrecks and a swim beckoned. Gotta keep the kids happy. Anyway it was good to score a flat day on the bay.
if they won't take a slug of any size chuck on a soft palstic shad. Its been working for me.
What time were the mackerel there??. I was taking a mate's boat past St Helena at about 10:30 on Wednesday and we saw one tiny school, when we got close they took off. We also did not see any other boats about except for a few drowning some pilchards at the artificial.
