1770 12th - 17th
Went down for the M&G, what a great time, weather aside
Saturday saw me arrive at 1770 camp ground, already feeling the effects of the wind, which was only a 20knt breeze at the time. Booked in only to be told that they had me booked for Sunday, no problems but couldn't have the site I wanted so I just moved up the beach a ways. Ended up on A14 thinking Corry was on 15 but alas not to be he bailed and ended up in "Lazy J".
Fought the wind and with the help of Spaniad- Paul (Thanks heaps) finnaly got the tent and camp set up.
Monday evening at Kahunas was a hoot, Thanks Phill and Tony for the Info packs, maps etc.
Tuesday Morning saw a guided tour of the creeks (look out for the sand) thanks to Tony. Had Paul and Brad and a load of pots which did not produce a thing. Heard a report of mackeral at the last channel marker so we bobbed around for a while with Brad dropping 1 mack, Paul getting a small reef shark and I hooked up the freight train to New Zealand, needless to say we never saw what it was.
Monday saw another assault on the beacon however the water had become quit dirty by this time and as the tide changed in moved the reef sharks again and out we moved, time for a quite brew or 2 or 3.
That evening saw a get together on the deck at Bugmans, unfortunatley he was unavoidably detained whilst checking the pots, what happened there
Spent most of the evening thinking that the tent was a gonna at any minute, must have blown 50knts off some of the squalls that blew through, I kid you knot
Tuesday saw me pumping some yabbies on the low tide out front of the tent, thanks for the help Foxy and Milt, the yabbies produced a few small whiting and bream.
Off to Lucky Phills for yet more alchol and story telling
Wednesday saw a further easing of the wind so it was off to the "Sitasher" (i have no idea of the spelling) in Daves Markham, that thing corners like it on rails
Thursday and the wind is on the increase, went for drive up to Eurimbula National Park, nice beach, good looking creek, will be back there.
The wind is still increasing so I bailed out a couple of days early and headed home
Yes the wind did put a dampner on the outside fishing but for those that put in the effort up the creeks I think the reward was quite good with a few jacks weighed
A great time was had by all, and I am sure the breweries were thankfull for the wind.
