    Goldie Today  19th

    Gaday all.
got up early and checked the BOM , took a gamble on the wind being late as usual. well it was mid morning.
plan was to head to palmy vyer mermaid.
well didnt get to palmie today but made mermaid.the macktuna were all over the place, the tailor were around as well. didnt see any mackeral but i recon the guys on palm beach did ok today.
i got 8 macktuna on lures, got bitten off once, and dropped 2 nice 40+cm Tailor at the boat.
    and lost another dam hat
4 of the macks were spun up with 20gr raiders on 4Kg,
    2 on a trolled pink skirt ,
and 2 were play time. 4Lb fireline to 10lb leader to a 15gr bait copy slug. was expecting to get spooled but the little Caprice 1000 stoped the suckers before it got even close.
1 was 60cm and 2.7Kg,the othe was a little one witch was the first 1 hooked at only 46cm and 1.4Kg .
also figured out that a 4500 baitrunner is totally inadequate to troll skirts.
had a mactuna 2.7Kg take me to the backing on the 4500 reel and the main line was 30lb braid, was all excited thinking you bloody beauty a nice blue or something just as nice.
dirty macktuna. next time bigger reel more line just in case.
any way heres a couple pics of fish with rig that they were caught on.
    then it realy gets ughly

I heard from a mate , # #that the asians love eating them .also bonito. is this true .must be an aquired taste.
the cats certainly love em. Ive had some cats pull some amazing stunts to get inside my fish bins and raid me precious McBait .And a few dogs i know cant get enough of the 'bloody' things either.

As for the seafood truck.wow. Thats a good look for any business. Dodgy. [smiley=uhoh.gif]

with reguards to eating the macktuna.
bloke i know found that if you blanche the fillets for a couple minites before you cook they loose the red colour and the strong taste.
he then curried them for a yummy feast.

    Cheers Cloud 9

yeh 9 i have also heard if you spike and bleed right away they aren't TOO bad and as for bonito (not sure if they are the same ones we get here in oz) overseas in places like the solomons and vanauatu they call them chickens of the sea
