Ha ho all.
after yesterdays trip off the goldie, had to take the wife for a trip.
the river i say's for a whiting or flaty
so with yabbies and a bit of macktuna for bait off we go at 10am well you cant get up too early can we 8)
took the cast net just in case > but more about that later.
we took a run down to the mouth of the logan for a look around but ended up at lone pine. with the anchor set baits in the water, we wait.
got baited a few times before the Bride of Verminator hooks up to a 25 minute tussel. was a top effort fishing with 6lb braid to 10lb fluro leader. i managed to mouth hook the 10.9Kg vermin flapping bait snatcher, which was photoed and set free to scofe someone else's bait
in reply i hooked 2 whiting 23 and 24 cm.
the Brides touche' was 3 Catfish.
KINGTIN would be proud.
which i followed up with the second smallest flathead ive boated.
the take the cast net part as mentioned earlier was the topper. will down past marks rocks and i was past marks rock by about 500m 1 cast $90 down the poo chute.
the whole lead line gone. this net has had 5 casts since new.
so now i have 3 rooted Cast Nets to give away. there will be post in general about the ecconomics of Prawning from my point of view when im done here
anyway here's the big flapping bait snatching Vermin that the bride Landed.
here's at the hookup
GEEZ 9 i think that would be a record for smallest landed flattie!
mate with the run of luck you have been haveing of late you are going to be due a HUGE day soon
yeh hooked my fair share of flappers and they can be fun
only last week foul hooked one in the tail while casting to the banks for flathead
was one twice as big as that one in the pic and peeled me down to the backing on no time flat but lucky enoght hook pulled so ended up no worst for wear but they are great fun on the light stuff
the last 10kg thing the wife hooked was a carpet shark hooked while fishing the scottish prince on the goldie. but that was on 30lb braid and they fight fair.
gimble belt is for wife to stop bruising, rod but in the leg leaves bruises on her.
and the flapper took a yabby on a small long shank whiting hook, and i mean small hook only 30mm long.
Nice one Cloud 9 and yes, I am proud..........of your missus that is. With that name on her hat she couldn't help but score some vermin. She did well to get that bugger to the boat on that tackle............did it take you as long to land your lizard? ;-) Watcha set the vermin free for?????? Bloody good chewin'...........once you manage to get the skin off :-)
