    Gold Coast today good friday.

Gaday all thought id poke the head out early and try for a mackeral or something.
trolled from the seaway to mermaid reef for no fish. tried skirts and minnows, no luck though id turn around and head north, came across a few macktuna scored 3 on 20gr raider. between 50-55cm and around the 2 kg mark.when i got to the seaway it was still early about 8:30am swell was cleaning up a bit so further north i go .
i heard a lot about Couran Cove so though id give it a go. birds everywhere and boats too. game boats to tinnies. the schools of tuna everywhere Long tails with a few macktuna thrown in for good measure the long tails were fussy hooked 1 smoked me good i was half way down the spool before the lure let go. Damb.
got 2 more macks here 45-50cm and just under the 2kg mark.
met a fellow Ausfisher up here today too Ian White.
not to shore how he did, but i got 5 for the day .
would of liked to have got the LT but i had fun anyway.
it seemed that no one had any mackeral today .
    well apart from Lucky phill.

3 days more to fish yet.

I'm glad the conditions cleaned up a bit from earlier . I worked nite shift last nite and the wind puffed all nite - not bad but enough to be a nuisance . No mackeral huh ? The car park at Currumbin was full this morning but no feedback yet . I am sure they will return for a late run . We usually get them up to end April - May most years. I have been told the divers have seen big sharks in packs of ten or more lately and popular theory is the macks have retreated for a bit . Here's hoping . How long is the run up to Couran offshore in reasonable seas ?

    Bad luck Cloud,

Wish the 3 fishing days were going to be a little nicer to us in regards to weather...

Towed my boat down to Brunswick Heads this afternoon for a sticky beak. Crossed the bar and headed north. No luck on the lures, but was just happy to be down that way. Another boat at the ramp had 6 Mackeral (spanish and spots). All big fish, and was just drifting livies over bait grounds.

    Anyway better luck next time

yep but its a blast with the reel screaming on the lite tackel.
    could catch them all day.
my worry was i was low on fuel .
    i went out on a 3/4 tank.
and im not to trusting of the fuel gauge. had 57 nautical miles up on the clock and most of that trolling .
    then it realy gets ughly
