Great fish there guys on light gear.
Mates off mine fished Peel Island Friday and hooked up to a 12kilo yellow fin tuna on 8lb gear.....They landed it at Harry's...lol
    Took them 1.5 hours.

    Re: Caloundra today

sorry, but it wasn't a yellowfin Brent. Almost certainly a longtail. Longtails have yellow scutes along the tail section behind the dorsal fin. Yellowfin are very rare inside Moreton Bay. Longtails are one of the most common mis-identified fish in in SEQ. Another one is school and spotted mackerel.

I took my longtail to a bait and tackle shop at Caloundra and one of the staff there thought it was a yellowfin. Put them side by side and there is no mistaking it.

Great capture on 8 lb gear though. Takes alot of patience to go for over 30 minutes on a fish. Alot of people get impatient and end up breaking the line.
