    Sailing off GC

    Hi,

Headed out for some Mackeral action but had to settle for this instead, took a whole bonito slow trolled. The largest fish we have ever landed, taking into account my Haines is 2.25m wide which makes the fish about 2.3m from mouth to the v of the tail

Anyone hazard a guess at it weight???

great fish, bet it gave you a good workout, leave the weights to jeffo, howd you go getting it aboard we leave em in the water over 40kg as it aint real good for the fish without a forklift LOL, swim off ok?

Fantastic stuff, makes me happy that I live in this place!
Were you actually expecting to pickup mackarel at that time or had you switched tactics to entice a strike by this fella?
    Great photos.

    Re: Sailing off GC

2.3m short length is around 60kg on most length to weight charts. Good fish for the Gold Coast. A few big ones appear of the Sunny Coast every now and again but that is the best I have heard of in recent years down there.

Heath after that experience, they are only vermin when you hook them at anchor

woa!! Garry, did that make a whinnying sound when it came up for air - coz it's a HORSE!!! Awesome fish mate, just a shame that it's SO big the photographer had to get in front of the wind screen to be far enough away to fit it in the picture. DOH!

macca and it's also a shame he wasn't tall enough to be photoing it over the windscreen (my 10 YO son), non the less we have some memories of it
