    SPs mud Sat 18th

chickened out of going off the seaway due to the swell (did anyone go out off the Gold Coast and what was it like?). Decided to head to Mud instead and throw some SPs. Cast netted in the river for around an hour for just the one pike and one gar and got out to Mud around 3 pm. I worked around the E and NE side and caught about a dozen squire on 2 kg and 3 kg mono line. About half of these were over 35 cm, with the biggest 39 cm. Alot of fun. Also plugged some marks of the odd rise and ledge into the GPS to make it easier for next time. Drifted the gar and pike around after dark but they got chopped by tailor (I think).

Just kept the biggest one for dinner Sunday (yummy) and released the rest.

Good work Jeremy, got a feed and didn't sink your boat or endanger life or limb! More power to your elbow!

The pike were holding in the mouth of boggy creek on my last trip around the hole on the left hand side just after you go under the pipeline. Easily caught by jigging plastics a metre or so below the surface and dropping your rod tip as they strike (the extra bit of slack helps set the hook as they tend to mouth the plastic as first)

HaHaHa Jimmy. How is the elbow? Learn't to hold on in the boat yet? I am still practicing my emergency stops after hitting sand regularly

Thanks Jeremy. Didn't think of the SPs at the stage and didn't want to thrown the net around the rocky bottom there.
