Hi all, just back from having a week at 1770 with 9 mates from work in 4 boats. Arrived monday arvo and checked in with Tony at Agnes Bait. Hell of a nice bloke . Made plans to take him out late in the week on a good day to catch my first trout. Tuesday the weather was very difficult to predict as the wind was howling from the north and the BOM would say light winds from the S/W. Anyway had to wait till wednesday to soak a bait at the Banana banks. Started off nicely landing some good Husser and sweetlip. Died off so ended up at the Inner wides to catch more sweeties and reds Was nearly reduced to tears when I had to return Reds just short of the 55cm mark but thems the rules. Wind arrived from the north so off home. Thursday winds returned but tried in close around the 9 mile and Trawler wreck 12kms but returned to base as heaps of Trevally up to 7kgs were only taking baits. Friday was the weirdest day as the winds howled then dropped 4 times during the day to make things a bit uneasy when you are in a 4.6 CC. Managed a nice feed of Husser/ parrot / moses and sweeties from the Banana banks. Woke up on saturday to good conditions and decided to hit Bustard with some Mack Maulers. Unfortunately no Spanniards around
so off for a quick jig at the trawler again for a snapper. Firts drop got smashed by an early call of a knobbie as the head was shaking like Mohammid Ali but turned out to be another monster GT. About half an hour later the call of COBIA at the back of the boat was announced. We started to through out chunks of GT when my mates line started to scream. Well the next 10 mins were nerve wracking but on board arrived a nice 17.5 Cobe
. After another hour of trying to find a snapper amongst the Trevally we decided for one more trip to 9 mile for some more reefies. No luck and we left at 4.30 just as the daily northerly got up. Well to some up the week I must say i had a ball with the guys, unfortunely didnt get to take Tony out as even he was unable to predict the weather last week. Not to worry will be back in March for another attempt.
Cheers Klinky
