    Todds first Bay cobia

Todd had a taste of the big ones today with a nice 28kg cobe. His first and a very good effort.

With the weather looking a bit sus # for the rest of the week decided to do a quicky this morning.

Todd and family will be very happy with dinner tonight.

Good old E3 does it again!

    Phil

    Hi nigel,
a fisher centre console 5.5. IMO essential for boating fish like this in shallow water. It is rare that they don't run you a few laps of the boat in shallow water fishing and a thing with a cabin really puts you in a tricky situation.

Line = 24 kg TLD25 depth 15m eastern moreton bay
fight time, not real long when you are on 24kg with a harness and beacons

didn't really get 4 cobes. the rest were vermin
"sequence of trades" 1. beaconed by a 25kg cobe, 2 this fish in boat 3 great big old man turtle released to do what turtles do! 4 big old shovelnose 5 ditto another shovelnose 6 mega mega ray not moveable on 24 kg

    phil

all on cut bait of jigged yakkas etc at beacon

You're on 'em again Phil. Well done. Reckon the big ray (likely an eagle) and big shovelly lend themselves to cobe fishing if you were fishing where I think you were. I've had quite a few sightings now of cobes following rays and shovellies to the boat.........they keep good company Now if I can only catch the bloody cobes instead of the vermin

    cheers
