yes once on the mid north coast live baiting for blue fin of the rocks. turned on a heck of speed and had the boys calling it for many types of pelagics. bugger of a thing to release also was not too happy about human fingers around its beak.

I got one on a peeled prawn.

Seen other people catch them as well.

Got a turtle hooked on back flipper on sand flats west of Garrys anchorage, using small whiting gear. Followed and played him for ages to get close enough to cut line up as close as possible. Years ago first time using a live prawn as bait caught a ray in the but of the tail, played him backwards all the way with the same ending. Neither seemed too bothered with the ordeal.

The ray was hooked north of glass house creek heading home towards Caloundra.

Years ago I was fishing for flatties at the drop-over in Lake Macquarrie and as my set line started to slowly peel off I though hello hello a big lizard as I had it rigged with a ganged set and pillie. It took while to get to the boat as it was huge about 3ft. across it's back, but both the turtle and my fingers survived

got a massive turrtle in the whitsundays on a live herring. took me bloody ages to land it. had the drag as tight as possible on abu 6500C4 and 30lb braid, still couldn't turn it. after a quick wrestle it swam off slowly.
