    Pics from recent trips

    Hey people,

Despite a tighter schedule I've managed to get to some spots inbetween Ingham and Townsville over the past fortnight. I have been joined by Townsvillians Kiel (the sphinx) and Dave (gotone member 'ass monkey'). We hit about half a dozen places starting with 'the lakes' in the centre of Townsville. The saltwater lakes hold some pretty good fish, infact this place used to be one of my favourite places but recently phosphoros of all things (looks like green toxic glow) has ruined its fishing potential. Henceforth, the best fish of that trip was a small jack, so the next day we abandoned the saltwater and headed up to the freshwater reaches of Crytsal Creek. I was slightly aprehensive about putting more effort into the freshwater expeditions in Townsville seeing as most in the past resulted in virtually no fish . Not this time!, this turned out to be one of my best ever freshwater fishin trips near Townsville. Within minutes we all hooked jungle perch. Although most fish were lost we still got a couple and expected things to quiten as we moved downstream. But to our delight the action increased. When you wade through waist deep water and notice legal size jacks schooling with jungle perch it is pretty encouraging. I was talking with sphinx as he landed his JP, how awesome it would be to hook one of those jacks on popper. I think within about 10 minutes my popper was obliterated by what we swore was a barra smash . On 2kg these jacks go allright, we went on to get another three jacks and lost about double that amount. In the brackish-early tidal stages of the creek we got into some small trevors and cudas. Dave hooked and lost a pretty big cuda at one stage which bit through his leader. For about 10minutes there was a cuda jumping all over the place trying to shake out dave's $18 rapala popper. Unfortunately the hooks did their job too well and he lost his only popper. We called it quits when we reached a deep tidal waterhole, I remember getting back to the servo and buying one of those hero rolls. I was so hungry I scoffed it down half frozen. It was just one of those days we were praying for for so long. This weekend I've decided not to wet a line but I did manage an afternoon session near the Seymore River and at Cattle creek(Ingham). In total I dropped three barra at the Seymore, landed one (70cm) and got stuck into many tarpon at Cattle creek. All good fun, enjoy the pics
