Thread: Fraser island barra

    Re: Fraser island barra

Matt those flattys where about 55 and 45 cm.I kept them because my daughter caught them and she caught the flounder. Most of the fish over the week where released as we only ate fish 3-4 times.I think we ended up with over 60 flatties over the week.

The houseboat was from fraser island houseboats and was fairly cheap if you compared the price to a couple of other companies. All the info and prices are on their website at fraserislandhouseboats .com.au.I found the owners to be very nice people and would go out of their way to help.

Hey Tangles21, great fish, and a good story. I just posted a report on our trip before I spotted yours. We were up there on one of the houseboats in the back ground of the picture of you holding the fish.
Sounds like you did a lot better than we did, fishing and crabbing wise. Perhaps if we had put more effort into fishing and less into happy hour/s on the top decks we might have had some more success.
Where you the guy who was spotting the cuttlefish/squid for my wife and I? We were in the dark green edge-tracker at the time.
What a brilliant place to spend a week.
    Cheers Ballast (Brad)

That would have been my mate spotting the squid.I saw you and your wife casting lures at some snags one day and your wife caught something. She looked pretty happy about it.

    Hi Tangles 21,
Well done, great fish and crabs, love the pics and the report sounds like a great trip. Nice part of the world and even better when you catch a couple.

    Re: Fraser island barra

Your kidding arnt you nat. This is my first barra and probably will be my last for a long time as i couldnt afford to fish up north atm.I am very proud to catch this fish and it will feed my family twice. If you would catch and release this fish then good on you.But i wont feel guilty for keeping it.Between me and my mate we would have caught and released over 100 fish over the week.We only took what we could eat.
