    Tempest Thursday 15th

I was looking for a break in the weather before the winds hit so left Scarborough 5.00 am. Had a perfect run to cape moreton and went straight for Shallow tempest averaging 26 knotts. Found the current flowing strongly at around 2.5 Knotts so tried drifting while sounding for fish and structure. (this is the first time in this area because its the first time I had got it right with the weather) No results at our first position so went to three others with still no results except 1 x undersize red throat emporer.
Went out further to deeper water (deep tempest) Nothing.
Took off to hendersons and only got baitfish but did hook onto a large Turtle. Raised him close to the boat after 20 minutes and cut him loose without too much line.
Went off down towards Stradbroke, in close to shore, Nothing. Ran back parallel to Moreton, through round patch and right up to Flinders Drifting over anything of structure with no results.
Saw a wind change at about 11.15 which took the glass off the water and was a warning of the wind coming.
Caught 1 x Coronation trout (just legal) 5 minutes before leaving at about 2.00 pm. Had a good ride back averaging 16 - 20 knotts except for the last couple of miles that were best described as a 4 foot chop with holes in between every wave that the 575 outsider fell into with a bang. It was cruel on the back even at low speed.
Bait we used was Pilchards and squid as well as fresh cut bait fish.
We found that drifting was simplest as at anchor the Baits were surfing too much. We must have tried 25 different spots ranging from 6 metres too 120 metres but could not find fish.
Anyway, Got some pic's of the sunrise but nothing else was worthy of a photo

Unlucky angla, I,ve had a couple trips out there like that in the last couple of months. Couldn't even get a show on the sounder in spots which normally do show up.

I reckon that would be the deerest trout ever with these bloody fuel prices

    Best of luck next time.

We all have days like that At least you put in the effort to try and find them, they just mustn't have been hungry.

    Cheers,
