As the start of the weekend was ruined by high winds, we went to stay with friends on the Gold Coast - Sunday afternoon decided to go down to Main Beach opposite Marina Mirage. Picked up some whitebait on the way.
The gutters and formations were lousy, probably ruined by the stong westerlies, so just cast out the back of the breakers looking for some choppers. Instead hooked a couple of Aust Salmon of 3kg each which put on some special aerial display, entertained some Japanese tourists.
I had always read that the sambos finished their run around Coffs, but noted a post last week that one was caught inside the Pin Bar. Obviously stocks are on the rise and they are coming further north. I'm turning mine into fishcakes, but what are they like smoked? anyone smoke em?
