Sounds like you had a top day even though you had a few hiccups
Tried out some new marks wide of Mooloolaba (Caloundra wide) yesterday for a good result.
Left Mooloolaba at around 6:30 with a stiff south westerley blowing. Sounder was playing up so sat outside fixing it for the forst half an hour. Turned out the external noise supressor had packed it in. It is amazing how much better a sounder will read if you can avoid installing one of these things. Progress was pretty slow in the poly and it probably took a couple of hours to get out to our first spot. Turned out that the slow slog was well worth it as we came close to bagging out on the first drift
Ended up out bagging out on snapper/squire to 6kg. Also scores 5 pearlies and some others odds and ends including parrot and jobbies. Went hunting for some better pearlies in some deeper water but no joy - I need a better sounder! The poor old x85 just can't cut it in the deeper water.
Had a massive pod of whales( >6 ) surface right next to the boat without warning which was pretty awesome. Conditions glassed out after lunch so we had a great run home at 5200rpm all the way. Best Monday I have had for quite a while anyway.
Sorry no pics - no digital camera, I blew the cost of a camera filling up my car an boat

Hey Sprio are you still running a furuno 600? That unit is pretty high on my list as replacement for the X-85. Have you had it run out of grunt in the deeper water at all (i.e. > 110m)

Top effort there cheno. [smiley=2thumbsup.gif] It was a just reward for such a hard slog to get out there .... you did well to tuff it out.
Cheers,
Mark
