In here they behave a bit different during spring.
Just hang out at the water surface with mouth out.

Denser schools too.

Last one is a pretty good size.
They fight well and spike even better.

Have you ever tried eating them? They are very popular on the East Coast of the US. I had some at a restaurant over there recently and they were very tasty.

Just what I have said.

A good eating fish.
The bigger they get the better food they are.
No bones.

Tilapia fillets represent a couple milion tons of fish sold worldwide.

Gave a couple to next door, truth is i'm relecutant to keep any due to the fines associated with having them in your possesion. And i can't say i don't disagree with the current regulations. One of the reasons they are so wide spread is because they have been deliberately introduced by people so they can catch and eat them, which is a real shame when we already have such a variety of native species that probably fight just as hard with similar if not better eating qualities. I'm not saying to people not to keep them to eat as we might aswell make the most of the situation, but i would like to highlight the fact that every tilapia is one less australian bass, yellowbelly or spangeled perch and that they should be treated as a pest.

they eat them here in the netherlands... looks like good fillets if flesh

here they inhabit thermally polluted waters - most regions are too cold to support them annually

As yet can't bring myself to eat a tank fish But I would be happy to annihilate any from our river systems in Australia
