Well hit the water about 7.30 this morning and after a quick 20 minute bash got into my favourite jack creek ready to rock. However first throw of the cast net showed a very bad sign, about 1 billion herring in the creek, they were everyhere. I prefer to fish the creek when bait isnt that prevelent.
Got to the secret spot everything looked good clouds of sandflies, chopping in the creek and out ent the livies.
One rule never take hand off handline, missed 2 massive hits straight away trying to tune in the tranny and one to open a drink. Burley broght in the bream and some nice balckies to about 30cm hit the esky.
Next 30minutes saw 1 snapped forty point handline, 1 fish that went straight to the snags and one dropped right at the boat (im pretty sure he winked at me).
So no jacks but we got out of the creek and hit a little reef out the front where we managed to pull 4 nice grassies (bout 40cm) 1 rock flathead (60cm) and a few nice stripeys all on snapbacks.
Also managed about 40 trevors amongst all this all about 20cm long as they were in plague proportions, all pretty good on 2kg rods and line. Highlight was the 1 metre catfish that ate a wire net cod about 3 metres from the boat while being pulled in
