    Northern Banks 23/9/06

Decided on a later start then usual and left Mooloolaba at 5.30am for a flat run to the northern end of the banks. Tried the the shallows for abit with little result, so headed out to the outside edges to try and nail some good size snapper. Released around 12 snapper and finished of with our bag limit of snapper, with the biggest just a bit under 10kg. Pulled the pin and was back at Mooloolaba by 12pm.

Thats a good catch. Were you throwing back juveniles or big snapper and what was the current like? The weather looked great and it was a good pick to go then.
    Top stuff.

We were throwing back snapper from 3kg through to 6kg. We caught 8 and then started throwing them back to try and nail some larger ones. The current was only slight with us only using 1 ball to reach the bottom with ease.

Top fish Luke [smiley=2thumbsup.gif] You must have caught them all, as the Snapper just weren't there in numbers today (or at least for us )

    Cheers,

Wondering about that myself with the whittley? Haven't used the kill tank yet as I haven't caught anything worth keepin' but I'd be loath to have all that crap swill down into the bilge. I'm thinking that it only takes a couple of large fish scales to block the bilge pump?

I'm even thinking the same about the live well but they'd be lot smaller scales I suppose.

Nice going anyway fellas and conditions looked perfect.

    cheers

Pete, before the the 620 we had the 580SF which had the built in iceboxes under the seats. We've never used the kill tanks for anything other then a second storage place for a back up anchor. We use a custom built ice box, which also is a good seat to watch the lures when trolling in the warmer months.
