    Barwons 01/10

    Hi All

Headed to the Barwons in very lumpy conditions this morning. Nearly turned towards Murphies a couple of times but happy that I persisted in the end. Ended up with a mixed bag -5 perlies, 2 squire, 1 maori cod, 1 lipper and 3 parrot. The perlies were just legal and the squire were no special size but it turned out better than I hope. Fished just north of centre. Sorry no photos. Digital camera is now part of the reef out there. If anyone finds it - you're welcome to it!

I'm looking forward to Bugman's report. The word on the radio was that he had a good trip. Congratulations Brett - hope I get one myself this year.

    Cheers

    Thanks Smerl,

I'm still grinning. I guess to many it was pretty average with just one fish but to me it was certainly something.

You did well to punch out into that - it was certainly sloppy early.

At least you got a good feed for pushing out in lumpy conditions. Lets here about the camera story?

Sounds like your persistance paid off. always good to come home with a feed. Bad luck with the camera.

The camera story is a lesson in always taking the hooks out of a fish before you take his picture. I was fishing by myself yesterday. Thought I would take a photo of the freshly caught maori cod (never caught a legal one before) so I put him on the deck and grabbed the camera. As I was taking the shot he started flapping around with the bottom 6/0 of the two hook rig heading straight towards my bare left toe. I jumped out of the way - hit the seat and let go of the camrea to grab a rail. Camera bounced on the gunwale a couple of times before diving into the drink. Luckily no-one was watching!!

Smerls. Hope that maori cod tasted good after losing the camera. Expensive learning mate.
