everyone seems to be catching fish at mud. i was just wondering if i could safely get out to mud. i got 4.2 met 30 hp and if safe where would be best to leave from.
I have a 4.2m rid and i only take a Max of 2 OPB and with a long term good weather forcast.
You will need flairs ontop of you normal safty gear. To find out what is needed read http://www.msq.qld.gov.au/
My boat is a 4.3mtr runabout glass, with a 70HP Jonno. I have to say I enjoy having the power to climb up the back of the bigger waves when the wind blows bigger than 15knots. The nose dipped under one particularly sharp wave, which only scooped a face full of salt water at us - We needed waking up anyhow! LOL But I never feel unsafe, making sure that my trip home is in the same direction as the wind ( following sea.)
With smaller boats, try to choose your boat ramp according to the wind direction when you will be returning home. Makes it much easier with a following sea.
