1st Qld Report - Pumistone Passage

Took the future son-in-law out today for my first sorta serious fish since moving. After some good advice from Robersl I decided to trek to Donnybrook and check that area out - and isn't it a nice place. Good ramp. No crowds and those people we met were all friendly.

We sounded a few spots out and finally found a substantial hole to fish. Numerous drifts produced a surprising array of fish. Most were just undersize but we kept six nice bream for a feed. Also caught squire, grassies (I think), my first barred lizard, first grunter bream. I was amazed by the number of turtles as well. Probably won't get a chance to fish for another couple weeks so it was nice to finally get a line in the water.

Good one Pete ... finally back in god's country!
Aren't you retired now? And still no time to go fishing .... good to see you managed a feed.
    Well done champ.

Thanks mate. Yep - almost retired - trouble is the kids found out. We have baby-sitting, new babies arriving, helping with work etc etc. I should rent this place out for the next month or so lol.

Top part of the coast isn't it !

I moved up there a few months back and have never had an issue with the ramps or anything ....and so much access to so many fish !

I have been quite surprised at the amount of squire i have been getting on teh sand banks ...very plentiful !
    Nice work !

I fished the last hour of the run out and first couple of run up. Pretty shallow in places but I didn't move around much from the deeper water I was fishing so it wasn't a problem. Bit of local knowledge helps I reckon though.

    Hi Gunna

Robersl ( Shane ) took me out one morning and he knows his stuff. I know the spot you were fishing and caught plenty of just undersized grassies there on Monday. As well as leather jackets, some keeper bream and stingrays. Donnybrook is a beautiful spot that's for sure. You'll enjoy your day out next week I'm sure.

    Good luck
    Brad.
