    Bay Cam 20knt N

Moreton Bay 1pm, The distance shots don’t look to bad, but at the top of the tide is pretty choppy in close, it would be double on the other side of the Islands.

    fellas,
i got caught out last winter in 35knot westerlys (gusting around 40+)at peal island..there was a strong wind warning out for the arvo but i thought i could sneak one in. The bloody wind was blowing so strong the swell was around 2m and was breaking. My boat 5.75 centre console was getting picked up and held up by the wind. The mercury outboard 115hp i have cuts 2 cylinders at idle and the best speed i could travel was right on the diffrence between 2 and 4 cylinders it was bloody scary never again. I ended up only getting to wello point, was trying for Manly, took about 1 hr of pretty much hell. It is really hard to describe how rough it got but i sure learnt my lesson.Any way thought i would throw my 2 cents in.

Whats the best way to handle those conditions in a small boat ?
I have been in a 1mt swell with whitecaps and I found going slow across the swell was the best is this the correct method ?

Best way to handle these conditions in a small boat is to not be there in the first place.

But if you get stuck, take it slow is the best way. Make sure you have plenty of fuel because it may take a while...

    Here here .....DON"T BE THERE

But when you get caught out ...slowly slowly .
if you push too hard you will find you will use up too much juice and situation can get worse .
Sometimes your better staying OFF the plane and taking your time .
Its amazing how much fuel you use up in chop trying to hold the boat on a plane.
On a trip that i use 5 litres of juice in calm conditions , sometimes takes 20 litres if you try and push it .
Use the wind to your advantage and head for shore ....ANY shelter is better then the alternative of a flipping !!!
