Turkey Beach Report
G'day all,
I'm up here at Turkey Beach for a 3 week holiday at my olds house. I'm planning on doing lots of fishing and knocking back a few ales while I'm at it. I got here late friday arvo after beating the Christmas rush out of Brisbane. We were out on the water chasing Mackeral first thing Saturday morning. They were a bit sparse but my brother managed to land a good size one after finding them chopping up a school of bait fish that were floating around.
Didn't go out on Christmas day, did the family thing with the kids.
We went out Monday but the Northerly's had picked up a bit too much so we couldn't get out as far and had to do some bottom fishing around one of the channel markers inside the harbour. We only picked up some small sweetlip and the occasional Fingermark and Grunter. No keepers though.
On Tuesday I went to the mouth of a small creek where I've had some success before. We were fishing with prawns and did manage to hook up on some Fingermark but once again they were all too small. I threw around a few soft plastics when we moved closer to some rocks but didn't get any strikes.
Today (Wednesday) we went up a creek called "The Worthington" or locally known as "The Danube". There is a patch of rocks on one side where I have caught good bream before. Alas today the rocks let me down so we upped anchor and moved closer to some large mangroves that were nearby. In about 10 minutes three of us hooked up a several times. We ended up landing 3 Bream with the best being 29cm. After that they went off the bite and we headed back to base as it was starting to get hot again.
If the wind drops off a bit we are going to head out to some rocks(Ethel rocks) that are just of the end of Rodds Penisular.

Re: Turkey Beach Report
Well I've now been at Turkey Beach for 2 1/2 weeks and all I've been able to catch is sharks, a few good Bream, whiting, sharks, stingrays, shovel nose sharks and more sharks.
I've been waiting to get out the front to Ethel Rocks but every time I poke my head out of Rodds harbour I get hammered by the northerly swell have to turn around (my 15 foot boat seems small out there). Looks like I won't get out there this trip.
It hasn't been the most succesful trip bit by all reports this area is quiet on the fishing front at the moment. Nothing seems to be biting.
Cheers
