    Missionary position

Well, I'm home now (covered in bites and very sleepy - had the citronella but no lighter!). Geez it was hot. It was a bit bumpy going out. (one of the blokes that came with me didn't tell me he'd just been to the chiropractor - I'd have slowed down a bit if I knew)
Headed out to sail rock for a little fishing before heading in but really didn't have the time to search for a decent spot due to late arrival and need to get into a spot for the night before it got dark. Saw some good schools on the sounder but didn't waste any time on em either - tide was on the drop had to move it. I knew the bay gets shallow and not being familiar with it wanted to be looking around in daylight (hopefully getting a fish as well).
Once we got into the bay we stopped off at macushla to stretch the legs and speek to a couple of blokes who had pulled up - they hadn't caught anything yet. Couldn't get any decent livies. The handful of small poddies we caught died quickly - water in buckets got too hot too quickly.
There was a lot of phosphorous in the water which may have accounted for poor results but we still brought home a handful of fish.
Didn't really have a lot of time to explore the creeks too much. We went up No.3 and placed the pots (nothing) and played around the shallow bar at the entrance for nothing. We camped on the boat just outside the creek in the drain and caught a few (just legal) grunter, (v.small) grassy and red throat sweetlip, some small fingermark, a blue salmon, a couple of little sharks, a blue ringed/spotted stingray, a rat tailed sting ray, a small trevally, a slaty bream (mother in law) which Jeff took home to eat - Robbo would appreciate that one, some grinnery stargazer things, and my first ever black jew at a wopping 25cm!!
Saw 2 dugong, heaps of turtles, and a couple of dolphins (in creek 7).
Checked out the mouth area of creek 7 but didn't go to far down. Pulled heaps of undersized bream. Once it got too hot (about 9am) we'd had enough and went back to the ramp and headed home. Glad I wasn't driving though I couldn't keep awake. The other 2 took turns but I'm not sure they were much better as we ventured close to the side and the middle a few times on the way home. Made a few stops and was slow going getting back about 130pm. All in all a good time just wish it were better. I still haven't put all the crap away yet. Better get to it [smiley=whip.gif]
Any fishing is good fishing (should probably say Any fishing is...probably going to be illegal soon)

Sounds like a pretty good trip, mostly. Those stargazers are good eating by the way.

Death Toll at twenty so far this season.
Why risk your life and innocent others. Plan the trip and live to tell the story. There is no excuse for falling asleep at the wheel or even being tired at the wheel.....
