I caught my Holy Grail finally (with pictures)

For some of you who have been following I have had this desire to catch a Jewfish (Mulloway) for about 2 years now.

With children arriving in this time (yes 2), studying and work it is a rare thing for me to get out and fish these days.

I have tried dead and live bait from the shore, I bought a boat to even the odds, tried dead and live bait from the boat and even tried a variety of lure methods.

Well today I finally cracked it and caught my first Jewy. The best thing is I backed it up and caught my second about 15 min later.

It was a day of firsts. It was the first jew, first fish on my new Stradic and my first fish using a Bimini twist :-)

The damage was done on a #2 Squidgy Shad 100mm in technicolour, Nitro 1/2 Oz Bullet 3/0 Jig head, 30lbs mono leader and 14lbs Fireline all attached to the Stradic.

Both were hooked through the corner of the mouth and I took plenty of time to boat them so as not to pull the hook or have any other mishap.

Now that I consider myself an expert I will need to find another challenge

Nah in reality I just want to back it up again on a different day.

For the record the biggest (and 1st) went 72cm and about 3kg. They were both kept because the flesh of these 2 fish is worth about $4000 to me so far . In future I will be catch and releasing the majority.

Now before all you Jew guru's start bagging the size of these fish just stop and consider the hurdle that I have overcome to catch these.

I am a self taught fisherman as none of my family fish. I have had to get info from the net, mags and other fisho's to get these and I am bloody proud of myself

Great effort Alex and well deserved mate. I don't think anyone will give you crap about that catch .... soapies perhaps but still a couple of jews and that was your goal. Doesn't it feel good to knock off another target species off the list ... and so early on in the year too.
Better re-think that new years resolution mate. lol

There is a bit of an inside joke happening (for the newer members) here with DC and Vertico.

Back when I first started using SP's for bream and flatties I would always blur out my head just to keep the intrigue for the other members who hadn't met me in person. (plus to stop them cutting and pasteing my head onto monkeys, sexy women or even their own bodies )

The fact that I haven't been using paint shop does indeed show just how damn happy I am to get these 2 fish and pose with them.
