Cheech & Chong – Still Fishing

Having withdrawals (from fishing), been a week and all , plus the kids are like pelicans on a vegi diet [smiley=vrolijk_26.gif], the call was made to launch and 6 hrs latter we were in the water. Headed to our fav haunts at Mud Is, conditions were pretty good with 10knts SE to start, swinging around to NE latter and rain looming . The swarm of blood sucking winged heat seeking light attracted vampires was kept hovering by the breeze and 11 tons of bushman’s. [smiley=evilgrin.gif]
Anyway 1st keeper was a nice squire by yours truly, then we moved in a bit closer and Cheech got a beaut Grassie in about 1ft of water which kept him busy , then I got a nice cod. Cheech did his usual hook up to the unstoppable's (4 for the night I think) Tide was dropping so we ventured out and around, found a nice ledge that doesn’t fish cause no one will let me try , had a bet on which way the drop off was, I won, caught bloody big cattie returned after [smiley=hammer.gif], and small grassies, Cheech was busy re-rigging > so we left and went around a bit further to the SE. Calm was restored aboard. [smiley=happy2.gif]
Fished here with a MILF coming on board followed by another squire and a moses, dark cloud was moving closer and closer , looked like a scene from war of the worlds, wind went woosh and big drops of wet fell, so we ran away as fast as we could and the rain followed us all the way home.
Good trip again(Cheech [smiley=thumbsup.gif]), with a nice little feed for the pelicans (kids), probably have another crack later in the week, Cheech thinking Thursday night, keeping schedule clear, over…
    Cheers,
    Chong

PS: saw this big thing departing the river, what a waste, no rod holders and the fishing platform is way too far above the water line, but she could handle 40 Knt winds at the banks.

Didn't let you try?? What the!!!

As I recall it, you said you wanted to fish it for 5 minutes. One hour later,,,,,,,, and after I had tied on my third leader and snagged every cast,,,,, and after I said we were fishing the top, not the ledge,,,,,

Ok, you were right, I thought the spot was to the north of us and you said it was to the west. So why did we spend an hour fishing a spot that was east of the spot we should have been at!!

    But I got over it....

Is amazing how those mossies can find you. We were about half a k from the island and they were still there in droves when the wind was light.

Those unstopables are a catch 22. Hookup on light gear and you cannot stop them, but go heavy and you will often not get the initial hookup to not be in there with half a chance. Way more fun on light gear anyway.

Yep another good trip. Glad we chickened out when that storm front beared down on us. Better to cut a trip short and be around for another trip.

FOR THE LAST TIME!!! I have no gps coordinates of any of your marks... But I do have a good memory for landmarks.

I think you can keep those close spots during summer, unless the wind is up and keeping the mozzies away. I think there is a limit to how much deet a body can take.

Matt and I were talking about it on Monday night,,, we should try to arrange a 2 boat trip. Talk to you soon.

    Webby,
Cheech caught them, I like to concentrate on the bigger stuff.

    Dazza,
used a 1 oz leather wallet jig head with 6” flat redbacks, used 3 of them and got a mixed dozen of blackies and greenies….I find the greenies bite better during the day and the blackies come out at night, I think webby has had a similar experience..

Cheech, yeh you did give it a go and with wind against tide it was very hard to get right in the zone, but I recon that worth another look with different conditions, I did get some very interesting touches there.

Allnighter, not home brew, but as effective, got to get a brew down this week, stocks are running low , oh yeh and we followed a path on the gps and ran into a float with MY SPOT written on it , don’t know the hand writing so we fished it and took all the fish, then moved the float…..

    Cheers,
    Chong
