Moreton Island

[Flounder]

This morning we headed over to Moreton island hoping to get some mackeral in the shipping channel. We got there and the sun was just above the horison.. We were trolling for a while but didn't get anything so we decided to fish with bait in a bit shallower water and didn't catch much exept for grinner so we fished near the wrecks but didn't get any bites so we headed south a little bit and caught a couple of little whiting.. We started to drift into shallower water so we moved out a bit... then just as we were about to go one of my reels went crazy.. the drag was going so fast so I picked it up and my dad was telling me to take my time and not put too much pressure on it (this is on 10 pound line by the way).. I was playing this thing for ages and then it snapped off.. But my dad said it was probably a shark at least 100 pounds! Even though I didn't catch it it was still fun.

Sounds like you need to get your dad to buy you a bigger rod so the next one doesn't get away. And I think by the sounds of it you would have been hooked into a large spanish mackeral at least 40kg I'd say .
