    A Day With Westie

Steve (Westie Caloundra) was kind enough to take me out for a bit of a look-see at the Mooloolaba River today. Fishing was sorta on the back burner a bit - Steve wanted to check out some of the river further upstream as well as show me around a bit. Nevertheless the rods were packed and we flicked lures at a lot of juicy targets as we went upstream. Steve had thought the fishing would be ordinary due to all the fresh and that was certainly the case. But it was good to get a look at the area - as well as pick his brain about things I haven't done - like where to put pots. Crabbing trip planned soon [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]. After checking upstream we zipped down for a look at the mouth and a bit more advice on heading out to sea. More flicking lures round the pylons for zero then it was time to call it a day. Thanks Steve for the good company and all the advice that I got from you [smiley=2thumbsup.gif] [smiley=2thumbsup.gif].

Pete it was my pleasure, and it was good to see how you approach your bream fishing as that is something I have not had a lot to do with.

It sure looked to have all the qualities for a great place to fish with holes around the 3-7m along with good shelfs and ledges for jacks and muddies WHEN the fresh is washed out and some salt water gets up there. Fresh was from 1/2 a k past Mc Kenzies Bridge south.

Water depth was on average 2m at close to low tide, we manager to get out the back of Wurtulla somewhere without any problems and NO fish.

It will be one to put in the memory bank for the next dry spell in the weather.

The only was we have named a corner up there Crock Corner, and you will see why with the Photo.

Pete forgot to mention his special built rod snapped flicking SP's around the Marina, hope the Guy comes good for you on a replacement.
