Hi there Folks, Went out to Mud at 4-30am this morning with Ausfish member Steven 78 in his quintrex esturary angler.
We left the Brisbane River and headed over to our spot x in smooth waters.
What a great time to be out on the water just prior to a magnificent sunrise.
We started drifting the deeper water without even a touch so the call was made to go shallow in the hope we may get onto a couple of squire.
In no time at all the reels were doing there job and the fish were starting to go into the ice slurry.
Nothing huge but good enough for a feed with the biggest squire going 47cms and a couple of grassies that went 30 & 35cms.
That 35cm fish really gave Steve the run around going from the front to the back of the boat and then heading towards the outboard.
Gee they fight hard for there size !!
Things went a bit quiet so we ventured around the island to checkout a few different locations.
Boat traffic had increased by late morning so we headed back to the ramp.
Thanks for the top morning Steve i enjoyed every minute and look forward to our next trip.
Hope those fish tasted great on the BBQ Mate.
Cheers Brent
Correct me if i'm wrong but from what i understand the grass emperor is not a (coral reef fin fish) and is not included in the management plan.
Cheers Brent
Thanks Brent for this morning your welcome any time
The fish tasted great on the BBQ and the old boy loved them and so did i.
Did i forget to mention that Brent caught most of the fish again and at one stage I could not put my line in the water because Brent had me on net duty
Here is the sunrise that Brent was talking about.
While I have been trying my luck in Hervey Bay, you guys are proving that local knowledge has paid off yet again. (better than what I did that's for sure!) Well done.
Don't tell me there's no fish in Hervey Bay....lol....Mate we left a few for you on your return to Brissy.
We had to work hard to find the fish and they were only on for a couple of hours after sunrise.
Don't know where the big fella's are hiding.
Next time maybe.
Cheers Brent
Dont worry mate there waiting for another Mud trip with triple hookups and perfect conditions my only worry is that i might wake up
I got a little sun burnt today
Where are those Spanish and Schoolies
There are fish in Hervey Bay But the way I could have proved it was to snap a photo of the 55cm Mack my 13yo daughter caught on a bait jig. (forgot to take a photo before I filleted the thing!) She will not let me forget it I don't think! Outdone by the fairer sex in the boat AGAIN! LOL
Steven, I don't think you are dreaming mate, it does happen, but lately those sharks are stealing my joy all too often. Good hunting though!
