Pretty much the same results as Charleville.
A bit bumpy on the way down from Nudgee. Nothing "Tillie" couldn't handle though.
North Side no good. It might have been after I left though, as I headed off around to the west of island with my new Burlo-Dispenso-matic(tm) system still out. It's now lost, but probably still giving the nibblers a feed now...
Fear not, I still have the blueprints and have knocked up an improved prototype already
Good to get out of the SE'er. Popped the front and side clears on and anchored with the bow into the wind. We sat in luxury out of the elements, fishing out the back while the grassies came aboard. I'd forgot my fish-size reference book so I made a quick call to Fishin' Dan (Sorry and thanks mate) to check legal sizes and bag limits. Good action in a good spot for a couple of hours, and dropped off after the turn of the tide (and I think we'd dragged anchor about 30m off of the new spot). Busted *another* graphite rod tip, putting a bit too much pressure on the tip tying on a new leader
A few other boats around didn't seem to be getting anything, but they were drfting rather than at anchor. I liked that
Bumpier still on the way back, but never got wet. I had a bit of a drama trying to drive onto the trailer back at the ramp with wind and current (I don't suppose the clears helped). Ended up winching the boat on - a guy at the ramp gave me a tip on jack-knifing the trailer when in those conditions, so I might give that a burl next time.
No photo's as I dropped my mate off to do the filleting while I cleaned the boat. He later arrived with a bag of 14 fillets for me, so if he's to be trusted and only took half we brought home 12 sweetlip, 1 Squire (40cm) and one Moses Perch. The grassies were about 32 - 38cm, but all nice and fat and very tasty.
All caught on servo bait - prawns/squid/fisho. SP's and pillies didn't work.
Also hooked onto an unstoppable, and had a 25 minute fight with something big that felt like a Ray, but it was above rubble so might not have been. I'd love to just have seen it for identification, but it spat the hook while I did the same with my dummy
BTW - I ran into young Chemmy at BCF in Keppera on Sunday while picking up a replacement rod (Berkely Dropshot $79). Within a minute of heading to the fishing section, he asked me if I needed help. I just replied "Got any pics?!" (I didn't really, nice to meet you mate).
Good luck,
Mike
