the Coomera river sunday the 12th feb

    gaday all
thumbed my nose a the weather forecasters today. little or no rain yesterday and no rain last night.
went through a couple small showers on the way and had just a few realy brief spits once on the water.
launched at 4:30 am still dark and we could just make out the bank. and a bait caster is not the ideal tool in the dark. but only a couple overruns is nothing to worry about.
the Bait fish where everywhere, and the surface smashs all over the place but the fishies played hard to get.
i only had 1 hit and no hookups for the session.
my deckie peter had more luck than i did with 4-5 missed hookups and 2 fish landed, both flathead about 40cm .
met JT haveing a go too and he managed a few bream and an esturary Cod in a crab pot.
    plus some undersize crabs.
the target species was away today . some other guys got 1 baby Jack and that was that.
to top off a crudie days fishing,
i broke my first rod doing something stupid.
so if anyone has a 6kg Mitchell Copperhead Baitcaster lying around they'd like to sell PM me
failing that looks like i'll just have to buy a new Wilson Live Fibre Lightning 4-6kg Baitcaster.

No pics today worthy of posting.
    Cheers Cloud 9

At least you got out there on the water mate, pity about the missed hook ups maybe next time. Will be out on the Tweed for a fish tommorrow morning and a quickie tonight after work.

    Hope to meet up soon

    Cheers Rod.

    Hey Jamie,

Nice to catch up with you and Peter yesterday. Pity about it being so quiet, all I managed was a couple of bream, undersized estuary cod and two undersized bucks in the pots, all released. Catch of the day was a nice flattie that took an un-wieghted pink grub off the suface in about 3 inches of water. It did a very good impression of a barra as it surface walked its way to deeper water .

Will have to catch up again.

    Cheers

    John

Good work guys, keep up the early starts. Ran the Tweed Summer Sessions on the weekend. The Bush n Beach team came in first by .01 grams above Mick Horne the 2005 Tweed Qualifyng event winner. Best bream went 830 grams.

Of course JT Steve caught another Jack, but this one he tells me went about 15cm. Still he seems to be on fire this summer.

I'm hoping I get out for a fish this weekend, maybe we can arrange to meet up somewhere.

    Cheers.

    Marcel.
