Colloseum 11th & 12th
G'Day all,
Just a quick report on Collosseum on the weekend. Took the young bloke camping over to Hummock Hill Island with MILTON and his young bloke. Went to a spot that we have used before and found it to be full of RUBBISH. I could not believe the amount of rubbish left behind by some inconsiderate pigs.
Right, got that off my chest..........The fishing was very slow, and the crabbing was slower. Ran two pots and two dillies over the two days and managed two crabs the size of a 50 cent piece.
The weather was superb and the water beautiful. The kids had a ball swimming and playing. Whilst setting up camp the tide dissapeared and left the boat beached, so we had to consume some refreshments whilst we waited for the water to come back. Pics will follow as soon as MILTON sends them over from his camera.
Till then,

Re: Colloseum 11th & 12th
G'day Dean
When Sue and I had our 12 days over at the island there were 6 tents, 5 boats and a lot of people in the usual camping spot. We went well up closer to the mouth and found ourselves a beautiful area to camp. After about 10 days all of the people had left the usual spot and so we went for a snoop around. There was piles of rubbish, plastic, a huge mound of bottles and cans and generally sh!t everywhere. We buried a lot of cans and paper etc but it would have taken us the remainder of our hols to clean up properly after them. They are just simple bloody idiots. It's ammunition like that which council will use one day to prevent us all from enjoying that beautiful place.
Hope to catch up again soon

Re: Colloseum 11th & 12th
Dave,
Yes its sad to see such a lovely place left like that, and as you did...we tried to get as much as we could, but there is still a large pile of stubbies (VB) remaining.
I'm not sure why anybody would take that much glass on a camping trip to start with.
There was also a large sheet of plastic and an old box/chest freezer (the latter still remains also).
When are you coming down for another visit ?

Yep the freezer and the big sheet of plastic was there. The freezer looked as though it may have been used and they had a genset going on and off.
I don't know when we will be down again. We were hoping to grab some time there at Easter but we are presently faced with a family crisis and I'm not sure what the aftermath is going to bring.
Sue's eldest daughter, Kellie (23) and her daughter Hannah (3) have gone missing from our home in Rockhampton. They came up for a visit for a few days and were due to go home yesterday. We have not heard or seen from them now for 5 days and CIB, JAB and Missing Persons are investigating. She has no money, took no clothes, and was only going to visit a 'friend' last Friday afternoon. We are holding grave fears for her and little Hannah's well being and safety. I guess you can imagine Susan's present state of mind.
Love your family like there is no tomorrow
Cheers to you Dean and Deb and family

Both girls found safe and well this morning. Can't say anymore at this stage. Sorry I haven't said more earlier but haven't wanted this bumped up to the top. Thank you to everyone for your well wishes and concern. Sorry to bugger up your thread Dean.
