    Brisbane River - What the!

Fished the mouth of the Brissy river this arvo up till sunset with a bit of success. Fished just past the dredging pontoon in a deep hole of about 4m. In the boat we had a nice cod, some flathead and a shovel nose, all returned to fight another day.

As i go to fix the missuses line, my rod starts screaming and as i am looking down fixing a rod, the fish starts jumping out of the water. Grab the rod, tighten the drag slightly, fight for about 1 minute and then bite off!! ***k!!!

Has anyone had a similar experience? Any ideas on what the fish might have been? It had a bit of weight to it, nearly took the rod out of my hand.

    Look forward to any suggestion?
