    Moreton Bay Sunday 19_02_06

Set out on Sunday with fellow Ausfish members stubbie and pumps from Scarbrough just after 5am and headed towards Curtian Artifical reef. It was a great ride out sitting on about 50 ks an hour. Didn't see any bird action untill we got to with in 2 ks of Curtain. Lontail and mac tuna schools were breaking the surface so we spent about two hours chasing a few schools for no hook ups. tried all colours in the 25g - 40g size for a few temporary hook ups only for the hooks to pull
Then spent half an hour trolling between the beacons from Curtain to Tangas for no hook ups. Decided to give Curtain a go at bottom bashing but it was the middle of the tide and it was roaring through so after about 20mins we went and drifted around a few beacons for a big marwong and plenty of grinners > this lasted about half an hour when the surface action started again everywhere in about six different schools. So we picked a school that wasn't being hammed by every one and again cast slugs right into the middle of them for no hook ups. I did manage to get one beside the boat caught on a pink 35g laser but spat the hooks beside the boat >.
Bugged and tired after casting and retrieving went to the four beacons for some more drifting after driving past the wrecks for an err... look .
The second last drift of the day resulted in a nice size schoolie form one beacon before we headed off back to Scarbrough at about 2pm, got over half way back before the NE really kicked in making for a bumpy ride in.
An awsome day on the water weather wise but only one keeper

    Hey Damo..
    I know the feeling well.
Headed out to Curtain at about 6pm on Friday night for an overnighter with another mate and his boat leading the way.
Arrive at Curtain to find the current running at about 300km an hour...
No action until about 11:00pm and even then it really only lasted about 45 minutes for 6 throw backs, a small squire and a small marwong (love that silvery color).
Tried to get out to Hutchies at around 3am but conditions that way were a little bit messy.
Back to the ramp by about 5am with 1 fish between 2 boats and 4 fishermen. Great conditions, terrible action lol.

    Hi Damo,

was around the same neck of woods- one LT on a larger gillies (white) early in the piece then no luck afterwards despite all efforts- saw some macks up near bulwer- but they wouldnt touch anything with wire in it and had about 4 bite offs on mono rigs.
    cheers
