    Redcliffe Shallows Brutes Tamed

As per snapattacks question earlier on about my report, well here goes.

Fished in front of woody point sunday arvo for my best ever plastic session. Got out there at about 4pm and landed a few small squire up until all hell broke loose at about 5.40pm. First good fish landed was a gut hooked 63cm snapper, followed 3 or 4 minutes later by its twin brother at 64cms. Next cast and I was on and very shortly after starting the motor to give chase. Some 15mins later and about 200m from hookup point a 78cm snapper lay beside the boat. After getting my breath back for 10mins and as the light was almost gone I had one last cast and hooked a 58cm fish. As per snapattacks post said my camera batteries were flat and he saw all the comotion and managed to get some photos for me. We will post them as soon as we get them. All fish were released to fight another day. All caught on 4" pumkinseed powerbaits and on 10lb braid and 14lb leader. For the first time ever I did not loose a hooked fish to the ledge I fish out there. Last time we lost at least five. I can't wait till next time.

HEY FOGGY, SOOUNDS FANTASTIC. I WAS OUT THERE IN THE MORNING, GO SMALL STUFF. IAM STILL NOT 100%WHERE TO GO. IS THAT THE REEF OUT IN FRONT OF THE FLAT CONCRETE WALL . THERE ARE TWO GREAT BIG BOULDER THERE. JUST OUT 200METRES. I STARTED AROUND THERE AND DRIFTED DOWN THE FRONT PAST THE STEPS LEADING DOWN TO WATER. I WAS USING PILLIES. I SAW FEW BOATS ON BRIS RIVER SIDE OF REEF. IS THERE REEF OUT THERE AS WELL. IAM REAL KEEN TO TRY AGAIN. WOULD IT BETTER TO STAY OVERNIGHT?ANY TIDES BETTER THAN OTHERS?ANY HELP WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED

G,Day Graham, Sounds an awsome session you had mate.
Any idea what the big one weighed?
Did you get them on the turn of the tide?
Might have to get over to the Redcliffe area for a fish one day.
    Cheers Brent

Seahorse. I was out in front of Scotts Point. If you can use your sounder to pick up rubble patches on the bottom your results will be better than trying to fish the reef structure out there. I was probably 400m fom shore just outside a small ledge that runs ne/sw. Fesh squid fished lightly or with no sinker will see you with more fish than pillys. Better still leave the bait at home and get some 3 and 4 inch powerbaits in pumkinseed and watermelon with 1/8 jig heads. I also saw the sharks you are speaking of. They were only little fellas about 2-3ft long. Two of them followed one of my fish two the boat but never took a swipe. There was a heap of bait around also.

I guess the big one might have weighed about 5kgs(only a gues was pretty skinny)
The fish came on as the last rays of sun were leaving the water and the n/easter had picked up.
    Mate, wish you were there.

The fish ran away from the ledge and out into clear water for a change. Normally out there they dive for cover straight away, but I was on the outside of the ledge this time so they could not use the ledge as leverage.
