Went back to the Inlet today after catching a few jacks there yesterday. Wind was blowing about 30 knots and the water was liquid mud after last night's prolonged downpour. Uncomfortable conditions, though still managed one nice jack and a little cod..
Nice photos Steve.
Did you catch that wonderful Jack on that small reel or were you using a different reel? I know when I caught a 40cm Jack(first one and only one)it pulled like mad and I have a heavy spinner reel that the Jack fought pretty hard on too.
Cheers

yeah rose, caught all the fish and the ones the day before on my little penn spinfisher with 10 pound braid. Been using it lately for a bit of fun. Lose the odd one, but it adds to the excitement.

Thanks Steve
What sort of braid do you use(i still am a bit scared of it)and is braid easy to use on Spinners? I love Penn reels and I must buy a spinfisher one day as the only Penn reels I own are all overheads.
Good Fishing Steve
I've got spiderwire on that one and haven't changed the line for five years. Now I mostly use Platil Millenium, though also have Bionic Braid and Penn Power Braid. I only use mono for leaders these days.
Hi Steve
I hope soon to be able to wet a line in one of the creeks here(Thomatis, Moon, Barron)soon(weather permitting). How do you suggest I present my whole tiger prawns? Would I float them to a snag, weight them to a snag(dropshot or paternoster rig)or unweighted(hard to cast though)Also if you suggest weighted, where do you place the lead? Would it be just a running sinker along the leader? I caught my one and only 40cm Jack trolling with a hard body lure but I had a steel trace as Jacks have scarey teeth. We may even just go down into one of these water holes behind all the sand dunes at Kewarra and here at Clifton as with all this rain and very high tides the water holes have opened up now with gaping holes to the ocean and water rushing in and out like raging rivers. So there should be Jacks and Barra there under snags.
Cheers
Rose
