Hey everyone, this is my first post so you'll have to take it easy on me.
Fished the Logan River on Tuesday. Got to Carbrook ramp at around 6am and after some outboard trouble was finally fishing by 7. River was still quite dirty from the recent rain, and only towards the mouth at high tide was there relatively clean water. This was resembled by the catch, as alot of catfish and river perch were taken. After fishing all the usual spots until about 1pm only came home with one bream, 3 larger river perch and one flathead (63cm).
Great stuff mate, how frustrating are those bloody catfish ay... there good if its been quite for while fora bit of fun... but chasing other desirables they really get in the way. Nice flattie what bait/SP's were you using ? cheers
Nice Flattie there Jack_Hunter, Do you fish the logan much?, I'm sure Nugget will be pleased to see you are helping keep the cattie problem under control in his river . Cheers Touchy.><>
I caught the flathead on good old fresh logan river prawns obtained straight from the trawler. seems to be the best bait for everything in the river.
An interesting note was that inside the flathead's stomach was 3 small catfish about 6 cm long. Maybe this is a clue for the new superbait.
We generally fish the logan on a fairly regular basis, but i think it needs a break from the rain and needs to really clear up for a while before the fishing will come good
nice lizard there jack hunter, i also frequent the logan on a regular basis, last night while fishin for jew i couldnt get anything but catties either, ill keep an i eye out for ya and say gday if i see ya..
