Howdy Folks, Steven 78 & I headed out to my favourite reef area's at daybreak this morning to chase a few squire.
Todays session was awsome with a fish almost on every cast.
Steven nailed the first keeper just before low tide , fish measured 48cms.
We ended up with a total of 8 nice keeper squire with biggest going 49cm.
All fish were caught in the 3 to 4 metre zone and boy the light gear really got a workout..zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Reel screamers!!!
Best plastics were zoom watermellonseed and baby bass with the occassional pumpkinseed gulp throwin in for luck.
Conditions were great with the S/E only a light breeze.
Came home at 11-30 am and left them on the chew.
One of the best plastics sessions we have had in a long while.

As Brent mentioned we had a very active day. We stop counting under sized fish because we where catching so many and we forgot to keep counting them. Our guess would have been a minimum of 60 fish. I am the ugly bugger in the second picture. I love it when BOM gets it wrong in a good way as the boat traffic is minimal and we had Wellow all to your self’s at one stage. I also managed to catch my fear share of Ginners today looks like the Schoolies are not in large enough numbers to affect them yet.
Brent I shaved off all of my hair off again so that’s the last photo with hair on top of my head the Miss hates it
G,Day Coxy, My advice to a new comer would be checkout the bay island reef's at low tide to see where the rock bars and reef edges are.
This way you can go back on the incoming tide and fish close to them.
Use 1/8th jigheads or smaller in the shallow water and cast ahead of your drift but remember that structure loves to grab your gear so don't let it sit on the structure.
Keep casting and slow winding and give twitches now and then to entice a bite.
If the water is rough just throw the line out the back and sit and watch the wave action catch your fish.
Green plastics work very well in Moreton Bay.
3 to 4" zooms/gulps/powerbaits just to name a few and any colour can work on the right day.
You have to be patient and keep casting until your arms fall off.
Good knots and a smooth drag on the reel sure helps when fighting a nice size Squire or Snapper.
If the bites are slow try some fish attractant spray on your plastic.
It may make the difference in bringing home a fish or three.
I use 10lb braid with 8 lb flourocarbon leader.

Ha!!! Only 48 cm - Brent you are slipping. MY little snapper went 51 cm this morning just east of Green in 3 - 5 metres. We didn't get out there until 8.30 (Bankers' hours) and it was just on fire!
Go the Green Gulps! I will post a picture on Moday, cos I can't downloaded without my cable which is at work. Of course, this fish was photographed from all concievable angles. My PBFAW.

Hi Neil, Mate sounds like you had as much fun as we did.
51cms is a good fish in anyones book and just maybe you can do better tomorrow thats if you can get out before the sun shines
Look forward to that photo mate.
No fishing for me tomorrow but hey ive had 2 good days this week so i can't complain.
Actually my biggest squire today was 49cms so not far off yours but it looks like we both have along way to catch up to Foggy

Every fish we caught was about 1cm under 
Caught loads though, so was a lot of fun...
