Wedding anniversy today so my son and I got in a quick fish before I had the day with my beautiful wife.Had to buy her pressie today as I got a new fishfinder yesterday from the tinnie show. My son wanted to give the squire a miss and chase a few bream on plastics a little further up stream in the river so that was the game plan. we put in an hour of casting around the gateway area for a couple touches ,and then bang almost at the same momment we both had solid hookups and after both having that first run and turning the fish around simultaneously we managed to drop both fish but it certainly was a wake up call. We continued to cast plastics at various fishy areas till i hooked a average bream after switching to a 3 inch watermellon/ pearl minnow. fished the area without success for another 1/2 hour,so we decide to cast a few areas along the banks towards lytton. We had just got the boat on the plane when i noticed a smash on the top of the water close to the bank. we instantly pulled up to see exactly in the same spot a smashing hit on baitfish which just got us instantly in you beauty mode. we drifted quietly past the area throwing larger zoom minnows around schools of showering bait running for their lives.
I have never seen such feeding in the brissie river, well not this far up . with out a touch on our plastics I got the young bloke to run the boat back around so we could pass that area on the drift once again ,as he motored wide of the area i threw a zoom out the back and gave it a twitch as we slowly motored back and for that split second i was on with a solid thud and then gone . I couldn't believe it hadn't hooked up but gee it sure got the mind ticking over. These were not tailor ! We drifted the same area once more for no result and had to pull the pin and make the dash for home . It turned out to be a day where you had nothing to show but that feeling of what just happened there.Anyway we had an adventurous morning .
