    Fishing tag team.

I had the pleasure of both my sons coming fishing today so off we set with the boat down to the brissie river new walls. I'd taken 3 plastics outfits and thought I'll throw in 1 spin rod. The oldest bloke eager to have a go at these squire we have been catching but the squire had different ideas. The oldest bloke totally impressed with our lack of fish and me trying to come up with some option to save a bit of face. Suddenly I realised the birds about 400 m's away weren't working behind a trawler, they were on fish.So with the oldest bloke diving to grab our only spin stick we decided to chase a few pelegics. Looking through our tackle we found we only had some slugs which were a fair bit bigger than i had hoped .It didn't take long until clint hooked his first small tuna.Next up was garrett who has not had the chance to do much spinning before and the young bloke had a run of bad luck dropping his first fish, then a series of mistakes through panic while trying his heart out to catch these little speedsters.A case of white line fever as the large school of fish ripping into the bait and the birds going off . Finally he got a cast right in the sweet spot for a hook up and me yelling wind, the bloody reel broke and he turned to me with rod and reel in one hand and reel handle in the other.( bloody chinese Penn). Couldn't believe this poor kids luck so we then rigged up a plastics rod with a slug and chased until he got one .Trying to get speed out of one of these small reels was the main problem, but we found by casting and retrieveing with the boat motoring away from the school was enough to generate the speed to get a few more fish. A short session but the boys all came away with some big smiles from just having a fun time . I tell you just stuffing around with my boys just makes my day. Here's to many more!

Top stuff Chief! Was out there at the front this morning with one of my best mates - not a single touch! Got into a few flatties though, about to post pic...

Wife banned for outfishing hubby! Banished back to domestic duties until she acknowledges the error of her ways! No seriously though, nearly 6 months pregnant isn't conducive to long periods of boating...
