As it was the first Anzac day i have spent out of the RSL for about 6 years - the boat was going to definately burn some oil.
Dawn Service - always seems to have a snap freeze around the 25th April But unfortunately the wind was up and the tempo dropping so no early session for this softie.
After lunch with the outlaws decided to check out the wind protected waters of the Canals (lamerough creek) The 5 year old was sitting in the boat ready to go (life jacket on under new regs) and off we went. Just wanted to run the motor so trolled around towing 2 divers and 2 sp, lightly weighted to swim just under the surface.
A couple hits on one of the divers but no hook ups, after 25mins - BANG the ambassador with the rattlin diver goes nuts. I handed the rod to the little fella who played it like a pro. He jumped up to the casting deck and started playing the fish in one smooth motion (not sure were he got that from as his old man is a clutts) By the time I managed to bring in the other 3 rods he'd boated a nice 30cm queenie.
Nothing huge but his first trolling victim and his first queenfish. (took me 31 years to catch one)
Sorry, didn't take the camera - what sort of father am I.
