I went to the same spot last night and had a ball. All up I got 12 flatties with 9 of them being over legal. I didn't get any over 50cm though. Kept 3 for dinner tomorrow as I'm goin round to see my folks. Me mum loves fresh flattie.
I was using 3" atomic lumo shads and the squidgy fish you can see in the photo.

Sounds like you had a great session there. I'm still yet to get my first legal flathead of SP's, But I reckon I should soon.
Sorry bout the late reply guys. Well basically flatties hang round the bait schools at night and the bait hangs around well lit areas (bridge lights are ideal). You don't need really deep water but just cast up current and bounch you plastic along the bottom. If you see herring schooled up throw a cast up from them and work it through. Best times are within 2 hours of the runout and lots of water movement is good.
