After a few attempts at the Mud Is snapper (squire), finally cracked it for a few legal specimens on Saturday. Nice morning on the water - I think the early start made all the difference. First drop, triple hook up resulting in one keeper and two 'just unders'. Each drift produced the goods, but most were just below par. Ended up with 3 keepers. We then skipped across to the 4 beacons for a mackerel or two. JB scored one and decky Joe dropped one boat-side. Cruised home with the wind picking up at our backs. Top trip all round. It was great to crack these squire everyone seems to be getting into

Good to hear you got onto a few squire Dane.
Yep dawn was when they came on the chew but after sun up the fishing was very slow.
They only get bigger as we approach winter.
I hope you find that bay snapper soon mate.

Hi Dane,
Early mornings at Mud is a must, try to be first there. We to were there saturday as well, for the first 3/4 hour it was liturally mayhem. Bite stopped around 6 ish. Fortunate enough to get a few, no size, nice pan size though. We usually anchor.
