Re: Brisbane River
You can fish there Chubby but you better like catties. They dredge the river for years for materials for the concrete plant and alot of people say that it stuff it up for good fish. Talk to the old blokes around town and they'll tell you they use to catch everything up there long before my time but.

Re: Brisbane River
there has been snapper caught right up to southbank so I wouldn't say you are just in for catties, have also seen large threadfin salmon caught near southbank and some stonker bream from around there also
I reckon give it a go, give it a good sound and try a few different spots out
most likely not overfished

I reckon you may have to fish it quietly. As if anyone sees you pull in a snapper, next day the place will be crawling with fisho's. Try fishing just at night fall into the night.
Good luck. Maybe the plastics would be the go.

Re: Brisbane River
i don't know about the eating quality of the fish from inside the brisbane river, i know i wouldn't be game enough to keep any from that far up the river, with all the polutants and stuff that's in there. however i do hear of a feew very good jew being caught up there during the winter months not to mention the muddies around the edges of the river
