Finally put the boat in the water about 1pm with 15-20 SW forecast, was at least 15knots at times, but wasnt too bad around the front. Found the pike on the sounder, anchored up in about 17ft on the edge of a reef, proceeded to jig a few up for the live tank and started fishing.
Had a go with Soft plastics and bait but no real action there, small sweetlip, small bream etc, then the first livie taker was a nice cod(pic), then had a screaming run which took off up to the shallow reef and busted my 60lb leader. It went so hard I couldnt get the rod out of the holder like when those big kingies at curtain hit. Left me wondering what it was(seemed too quick and extremely powerful for a cod and yet buried itself in the reef). Nothing much else after that except a spotted wobbegong about 5ft and saw a few mackeral in the berley trail but couldnt get them interested.
Still a very nice afternoon on the water with the westerly wind.

Nice cod mate. You did well to be out there. I was on the pine and at times the gusts swung the boat right round against the tide. Well done.

Bait was Live Pike
The cod will be dinner and the oldies dinner next door for the next few nights.
You shoulda been out there kev, wind and tide same direction, bit gusty but with the westerly still quite calm as you can see.

Dont know how big it was I dont bother weighing or measuring unless I think it is under or oversize, I just know a good feed when I see it.
