    noooosaaaaa

g,day, loaded up and headed for noosa fridy arv, with the minister in tow. was supoosed to stay at the munna point park, but big red forgot to book our spot, (onya mate ) so found last minute accomodationat the noosa tewantim park. in the water water 5 am on saturday to chase the trevs on poppers in woods bay, no luck there so headed over to the frying pan and landed several fh's on sp's. plenty of bait around but not much chasing it! > had lunch and headed up weyba ck for some more sp flicking. 1st cast landed a beuy little cod (1st0n sp) released and at it again. 6 fh's later (all released). headed further up weyba and found what we now call gotham banks (bats everywher) got some more fh's on sp's (in the esky!!) drifted around some little inlets up weyba. that place is alive hooked up to a big gar (metere plus, definitly a gar) but he tail danced all over the banks and finally spat the hook close to the boat seen a big jack cruising around up there but he wasn't real interested with what i through at him, bugger. headed back to camp and rigged up for the dusk session for trevs. i lucked out but nugget scored a couple of beut trevs throwing real close to moored boats. woke a bit later sunday morn, and headed up to the lakes area. i through sp's for 2 hrs and lucked out. big red (daryl) landed his 1st fish on sp a whopper fh 57cm. big red is now hooked on sp fishing!! casted at various spots on the way back down to no avail. big red couldn't do a thing wrong! landing another 3 on sp's. (thats what ya get when you teach ya mates how to fish ). heade up to the bridge near the sheraton hotel cast around the oyster covered rock and hooked up to another beut estury co, (man they go hard on lite gear) back up to the gotham banks big red cleaned up again > whilst i boated one.) back to camp and rig up for the dusk session again. big red comes over and asks "can i borrow a popper?" "sure have my new chug bug i gunna use the lively any way" mistake big red cleans up with 6 tailor in half a hour. whilst me? NIL ahh well, good to see the big fella having fun. great place up there i'll be back. thanks to ed at the tewantin tackle shop, your advice was pretty spot on.

    Great catch there lippa. [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]
Noosa sure is a great place to get into some good fish.

I was there in february and at about 5:30 every afternoon where would be a huge movement of bats. This would go on for about 30 mins and was quite a sight.

Got to agree with the gulp 3" minnows in pumpkinseed. They are what I got my first few fish on SP's.

    Cheers

Good work. I actually travelled up to Noosa for the long weekend aswell.

Scored a few flathead around the flats at the mouth on 4" turtlebacks in the red/black colour. Got a small trevor and cod on a 3" atomic shad in the real shad colour.

Great weather and a great weekend.

    Cheers.

    Nice work Lippa,

I love Noosa, my mate from Mel has a house that looks straight onto Woods bay!

There is always Trevors around that area, try the Chug Bug poppers, you can buy them at Ed's Hooked on Angling and Outdoors, he's a champ, been fishing with him a few times now and has me fully in the no how when I'm up in Noosa!

Weyba creek is a great spot and know what you mean about those Bats, I think thats a great name for the place, Gotham Banks.....plenty of Flattys up there and Jacks too! I lost a good one up there last year on a Bomber! If you are after Jacks try on front of the Restaurant in Woods Bay at night, my mate's caught plenty drifting live baits in front of those lights.

Gotta love the E Cod, they are great fun and to good looking to KILL!

Have a good one mate, cheers Barnesy

    Re: noooosaaaaa

Hey mate sounds like you did well, i live in noosa and love it, i havn't been fishing for a while as i'm waiting on my new boat to be completed. When you said you hooked a metre long gar, i am pretty sure it would've been a long tom as they commonly frequent around weyba creek and i don't think the normal river gar get to a metre long. Interesting that you saw a jack crusing about, was it in the day and where abouts ?
